Advanced Orchestra Audition Info
Beginning Summer 2025, Advanced Orchestra will be by audition only.
Audition Information
1. Review the Advanced Orchestra repertoire with your private teacher to make sure they feel it is a good fit for you. Keep in mind, we are learning the piece over only 7 rehearsals. In Summer of 2025 the Advanced Orchestra will be performing all movements from Holberg Suite.
2. Upon registration you will receive the music to prepare for the audition (an excerpt of the above piece). From the date you submitted your registration, you will have 2 weeks to prepare the excerpt and submit an audition video.
3. Send your audition video to info.fcsso@gmail.com. Videos must be uploaded to either Youtube, Google Drive or Dropbox and sent as a link. Other forms of submission will not be accepted.
4. You will be notified of whether you were accepted or not via email to the email address you used for registration. Students not accepted into the Advanced Orchestra will be placed in the Intermediate Orchestra.
TIPS:
-Listen to a recording of the piece
-Get help from your private or school teacher
-Practice slowly while you are learning it
-Slowly speed it up to the required metronome speed
-Make sure your audition video clearly shows the majority of your body
-We don’t expect perfection. We are looking to see if your playing is at a level that will be successful in the Advanced Orchestra. If you are not accepted into the Advanced Orchestra this year, you will have a great experience in Intermediate since it will likely feel like the right fit.
